COMESA Introduces ASCENT Project Preparation Facility to Private Sector Stakeholders

The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Secretariat, together with the World Bank Group and Cygnum Capital, on 13th July 2026 hosted a webinar introducing the ASCENT Project Preparation Facility (PPF) to private-sector stakeholders across Eastern and Southern Africa.

The ASCENT PPF is designed to help businesses transform innovative clean energy ideas into investment-ready, bankable projects. Through technical assistance and milestone-based grants, the facility supports companies in strengthening their commercial operations, attracting financing, and scaling sustainable energy solutions.

Participants learned about the facility’s eligibility requirements, application process, and the range of support available, including feasibility studies, financial modelling, transaction advisory services, carbon finance, and productive use of energy solutions.

Speaking during the opening session, ASCENT Project Coordinator Dr. Malama Chileshe encouraged participants to focus on developing projects that can attract investment and deliver lasting impact.

The webinar reinforced the ASCENT PPF’s role in accelerating clean energy access, mobilizing investment, and supporting private sector-led growth across the COMESA region.
