Comesa, UNDP discuss Strategic Dialogue on Africa’s Energy Future
At the margins of the Energy Access Investment Forum in Nairobi, Assistant Secretary General for Programmes at #COMESA, Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Kadah, and Head of Climate Mitigation and Energy at #UNDP, Mr. Mateo Salomon, engaged in a high‑level discussion on strengthening collaboration to close Africa’s energy access gap.
Their conversation centered on aligning the Africa Minigrid Program with the newly launched #ASCENT Project Preparation Facility, highlighting three priority areas:
– Policy & Regulation: Creating enabling frameworks to mobilize investment at scale for universal energy access.
– Innovative Financing: Leveraging results‑based financing and carbon markets to accelerate implementation.
– Digitalization & AI: Deploying smart tools to improve planning, delivery, and performance of energy solutions
